Merlins vs Illogan

First report from the youth team comes from The Merlin’s, who welcomed Illogan on Sunday morning.

In recent weeks the coaching team have been working on scanning and off the ball movement, along with an emphasis on decision making. The game started well and was a very even encounter. The boys moved the ball around exceptionally well, moved into spaces and worked well while not in possession. Ethan Strowger continued his fine form and slotted passed the stranded keeper following a bit of a goal mouth scramble. Illogan got a goal of their own with a rocket into the roof of the net, before Archie Dack made a tremendous save from a free kick, putting the ball into the cross bar before it was cleared to safety. Spencer Thompson saw a lot of the ball and went on some mind boggling runs, before Toby Taylor having a run out up front, calmly placing his shot beyond the Illogan keeper.

Thanks to Adam for deputising with the whistle.

Player of the Match: Toby Taylor
